Who we are

Newton Sinclair is a private buyer of established UK businesses and property. We are the data controller for the information described below and are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office under registration [ICO REGISTRATION NUMBER].

What information we hold and where it comes from

If we have written to you, we hold business information drawn from public and official sources: Companies House filings, HM Land Registry records, the Energy Performance Certificate register, and similar public registers. This typically includes your name, your role in a company, and the addresses recorded in those filings. We do not buy marketing lists, and we do not hold financial information about you personally beyond what appears in public records.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

We use this information for one purpose: to identify businesses and properties whose owners may wish to sell, and to write to those owners with a genuine, individual approach. We rely on legitimate interests as our lawful basis. We have completed a Legitimate Interests Assessment balancing our interest in making direct contact against your rights, and a copy is available on request.

How long we keep it

If you tell us you are not interested, we keep only what is needed to make sure we do not contact you again. Otherwise, prospect information is reviewed and deleted on a rolling basis no later than [retention period] after our last contact.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. The only third party that processes it on our behalf is our email and IT hosting provider, which stores our correspondence under contract and on our instructions. We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.

Your rights

You may ask us at any time: what we hold about you; to correct it; to delete it; or simply never to contact you again — one request is enough, and it is permanent. You also have the right to object to our use of legitimate interests, and the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
